Our President of 4 years Shona Williams stepped down tonight and we welcomed the appointment of our new President Maree Kowalewski and new team member Anne Field. Helen Funnel – our National President - officiated in the change of leadership.
Diane Andrews – our speaker for the night - opened her talk with a quote from Mother Teresa of Calcutta - “Give yourself fully to God, He will use you to accomplish great things, on the condition that you believe much more in His love, than your own weakness” and then Diane continued her talk with the following points:
Over the past year we have opened ancient doors in our fellowship and let the King of Glory enter but have we fully opened our hearts to what the Lord can accomplish through us if we only let Him.
He wants to be in all aspects of our lives, not just unpacked when we need something.
We need to daily repent of those things that separate us from the love of God and our relationship with him and forgive those who have hurt or wounded us and commit ourselves and every part of our day to the Lord – then every part of our day becomes a prayer not just the quiet times we spend with Him. Diane encouraged us to set aside that quiet prayer time with the Lord each day, especially in our seasons when the Lord calls us to ministry. We need to spend that quiet time to hear his word for us. The Lord wants us to be Mary and not Martha, he wants to shower us in His grace and love – we just need to come and be still.
We need to open up our suitcase and use the tools that Jesus has given us, His word – our source of revelation knowledge; we need to stand on his Word and all its promises. Daily put on our armour, receive the sacraments – the grace of reconciliation which enables us to pick ourselves up and continue our journey; the power of the Eucharist to feed us – Christ within us consecrated to us and us consecrated to Him.
The spiritual winds and storms are growing in strength and speed, blowing hard, and causing everything familiar to be moved out of its place, and our footing may feel unsecure and unsteady. But these winds are driving out all impurities and fanning the flame of the fire of the Lord within each of us. As these winds of darkness try to overcome us, we know who our hope, faith, trust and expectancy is in! He is the Majestic King who rides on a white horse and sits at the right hand of our Father, far above all dominion, powers and authorities. And it is with Him that we can stand and overcome.
Our goal is to day by day draw nearer to God. Times and seasons bring growth, and an overcoming spirit with maturity and authority in Him
The evening ended with prayer ministry and fellowship.
