August Meeting

“REDEEMED THROUGH THE POWER OF WORSHIP”

The evening began gathering the women with the Shofar.  A variety of musical instruments were on hand in the focus encouraging the women to enter into the praise with six women attending Dove for the first time.

Our speaker Helen Funnell , National President of Dove Fellowship, began the evening by reflecting on the theme for Hamilton Dove ‘My Redeemer Lives.’  She touched on the previous meetings held so far this year with a synopsis of Speakers and talks and encouraged us all to venture into the Dove Website.

Helen then came to us as herself- Woman of God, Wife and Mother.  She shared with us parts of her intimate journey with her Jesus knowing that God waste’s nothing especially in the hard times, painful and dark.  In desperation she called out to Jesus and he was right there.  She found herself praising God.  Helen shared how she experienced miracles of provision and trust through each trial. The Lord gives and the Lord takes, blessed be the name of the Lord.

“Because my Redeemer Lives I am held in God’s love.  He knows everything that happens in my life.”

Helen shared with us her fascination with clouds, how she sees things in clouds and has a-hah moments.  Sometimes we can hang out for the sunshine when clouds just seem to hang around. She encouraged us all - how we need the clouds to appreciate and see the sunshine!

The Lord has a blessed Helen with a beautiful gift in song writing . This night she launched her latest song   ‘Nothing can keep me from your Love’ (Romans 8:38) ©Helen Funnell 2010.

The evening continued with prayer ministry, reconciliation and a great atmosphere of fellowship over supper with some who just wanted to keep on dancing.

July Meeting

Can God Redeem A Nation

There was a buzz as the women arrived and anticipation was high when the drums started and Wilma led us in “Hail Jesus You’re My King”.  This was followed with two other songs empowering us for the work we were to do.

The welcome included Anne Marie Thom and Teresa from West Auckland Dove (our sister team) who had driven down that day to support us.  In place of a speaker we watched the first part of the DVD “Transformation” how God can change a city when we begin to pray - in this case Cali Columbia, a place where mafia and drug lords ruled, even the church.  A small group gathered and asked God how to pray.  This led to an all night prayer meeting, then to another at a 55000 seat soccer stadium where all denominations gathered.  A new openness to the Gospel began and faith took hold – homicides stopped and drug lords were exposed.

The DVD inspired us – chairs were put away and we began praying for our nation New Zealand.  A 2004 prophesy for New Zealand by Clemy Gilmore was read and declared out – I felt it was based on Ezekiel 47: 1-12, also declared out – the healing waters coming from the sanctuary bringing healing and a flood of new grace and love to pools that have stagnated.  We prayed into all gateways, we sang, we repented, we stomped for New Zealand.  Other scriptures spoken out were Psalm 65, Hosea 6: 1-3 and Jeremiah 18: 5-8.

With eyes towards the focus, the cross, a New Zealand flag and map of New Zealand, we completed a very busy evening with joined hands singing the Our Father and our National Anthem.  WOW!!!

May Meeting with Cathy Jenke

Whenever I arrive at a Hamilton Dove meeting, I am always greeted with such warm welcoming smiles.  After a long week it is always nice to come along to an evening where I can simply meet with God wherever I am at.  Invariably I go away from Dove feeling refreshed and replenished.

Being the month of Our Lady, Mays meeting began with a decade of the rosary in song, after which we were led into a time of beautiful worship.  We were joined for the evening by Cathy Jenke, a well known personality in New Zealand Christian broadcasting.  Cathy has been a presenter on Radio Rhema for a number of years, and has also been involved with Focus on the Family.

I was drawn in by Cathy’s insightful story as she spoke with gentleness, love and kindness.  Cathy shared with us about how she came back to her catholic faith through experiencing a sense of homecoming, and how she has grown to love Mary and the rosary.  Her concern for one of her children led her to the rosary, and her love as a mother opened up her heart to our heavenly mother Mary.  I found her testimony both encouraging and uplifting, and walked away with a new challenge to renew my own personal relationship with our Lady.  Thank you Cathy for sharing your story with us.

The meeting closed with prayer ministry, the opportunity for reconciliation with Monsignor Frank and a time of fellowship.  A big thank you to the Hamilton Dove team for the love you pour into each evening.

Passover Meal on 23 March

The Passover meal and setting, assembled by our sisters in Dove leadership, provided an atmosphere of stepping back in time that overwhelmed – 32 place settings (made after a call in prayer) and yes, exactly 32 Dove sisters were present. Our God never ceases to amaze us. “Thank you Father for allowing us to experience your wonder in so many ways”

As we gathered around the table there was a time of stillness and peace, of greeting and meeting, of being served, of preparation for the journey to Easter – Our Lord Jesus was there in our midst.

This Passover meal was a “first” for many of us. Thank you Dove for this deep and meaningful experience – I know that there will be at least one more Passover meal prepared next year to be shared by members of my family. As the Dove leaders said in response to our expressions of gratitude “Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. Amen”

OUR REDEEMER LIVES IN HAMILTON DOVE

Public  Meeting Held 4 February 2010

It is always a pleasure for me to visit the vibrant Hamilton Dove Fellowship.  This time was very different though, as I had the privilege of attending and receiving rather than speaking.  Right from the outset there was a buzz in the air and a great crowd for the first meeting.

Monsignor  Frank was the speaker and he spoke on Ephesians 1:3-14.  He explained succinctly how we were once all enslaved by sin and owned by the powers of evil.  Jesus paid the price for us.  He is our Redeemer.  Monsignor Frank challenged all of us to look beyond the “me and Jesus” experience to the “we”, the us,  as we are part of a huge plan, we are members of the Body of Christ.  What an incredible challenge for 2010, to make sure that we are “we” rather than “me focussed.  On reflection, I felt personally challenged to live a greater “other centred” life.

The Hamilton Dove team are a united group and this is evidenced by the atmosphere at the meetings.  The Women felt free to move in the gifts of the Spirit.  Unity commands a blessing and the truth of this was demonstrated from the moment the Praise and Worship began to the “buzz” of women enjoying fellowship with each other after the meeting.
It would seem that the Fellowship is one of many hidden treasures.  Monsignor Frank was presented with a colourful cross made by resident artist Christine.  I love the fact that God always provides, whether it be hospitality gifts, music, speaking, painting, writing, whatever is needed, He provides.  At the end of this evening I felt I had seen a living example of the “we” factor of redemption.  No-one did everything but all played a part.  It is no wonder that the Presence of the Lord was so evident.  I left encouraged, challenged and well hugged.
